Babush Distances From English Seekers
Education Minister Babush Monserrate who was present for the meeting of the 12 Congress legislators on Monday morning clarified that he is not with the group to demand government grants to English medium primary schools.
Speaking to media persons, he clarified that he had gone to tell the legislators that he was not with them on this particular demand since it was contrary to the government decision and also the party’s official line.
Replying to a question, he said he regretted his act of attending the first meeting held at Panjim wherein the parents formed the Forum for Rights of Children’s Education.
Babush asserted that he stood by his announcement on the floor of the House that as of now the government will provide grants only to those primary schools imparting education in Konkani or Marathi medium.
