Revenue Minister Jose Philip D’Souza who is accused of having grabbed Mormugao Municipal Council land at Kharewado, struck back by accusing MMC councilor Tara Kerkar of illegally constructing a bungalow in Goa Housing Board (GHB) developed plot, a charge refuted by Tara.
Jose Philip accused Tara Kerkar of constructing a posh bungalow illegally in the GHB scheme for Economically Weaker Section.
Besides accusing her of not taking GHB’s permission for the construction, Jose Philip also questioned whether Tara qualifies to be belonging to the “economically weaker section” and if so demanded that the funding of the posh construction should be probed.
GHB Executive Engineer A V Radhakrishnan admitted that Tara’s bungalow is illegally constructed and revealed that three notices were issued to the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) to take necessary action. However MMC has failed to initiate any action till date.
Tara Kerkar on the other hand has refuted the charge and said that she had merely extended her house by adding a first floor, which she said was required as being a social worker, lot of people come to her house and they need to be accommodated.
Taking a dig at Jose Philip she said the plot was allotted to her by GHB and that she did not grab municipal land and dared the minister to prove his charge.
