Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed a complaint before the Election Commission of India against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for displaying hoarding wherein the chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar is shown in a bad light.
The hoarding has the pictures of AAP’s chief ministerial candidate, Elvis Gomes and chief minister, Laxmikant Parsekar with wordings atop: Who will save Goa? Honest AAP candidate Elvis Gomes or BJP’s Parsekar?
In his complaint, BJP state president, Vinay Tendulkar stated that the hoardings are inherently derogatory, insulting in nature and aimed at maligning the public perception and image of Parsekar. “The content casts aspersions against the honesty of Parsekar,” he stated in the complaint.
“AAP is setting a bad precedent in Goa. A display of disregard to dignified politicians degraded standards of campaigning. Hence, it becomes imperative on the part of the Election Commission to take strong action against the offenders,” Tendulkar stated.
