The North Goa Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Blue Cross Foundation to pay Rs 1 lakh as compensation as their male nurse fled from a home leaving a patient recuperating after liver transplant alone and exposing him to danger.
The forum held the foundation responsible for carelessly recruiting the nurse and not taking any tangible action against him.
“They indeed did not conduct any inquiry about the employee’s background and did not bother to even check his qualifications and credentials when he applied for the job,” observed forum president S Vales and forum member Varsha Bale.
It was also found that no background check on the nurse was carried out. The nurse was a not resident of Goa and the foundation did not produce documentary evidence such as Form C to show that they had informed the police about the employee Sachdeva and his residence in Goa.
