The private bus owners have decided to go ahead with its strike on Monday as none of their demands have been fulfilled by the authorities.
All Goa Private Bus Operators’ Association (AGPBOA) General Secretary Sudip Tamankar lamented that the government has not bothered to address any of the demands presented by them through the memorandum. Besides, he said the harassment by Kadamba Transport Corporation continues.
Issues like the awful condition of the bus stands which is causing problems to bus operators and people were mentioned in the memorandum. Tamankar regretted that KTC has ignored directions to address these issues.
The bus owners have decided to dare the Transport Minister with the strike as the minister had threatened to cancel the permits issued to buses that remain of the road.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Sudin Dhavlikar said the government was willing to concede to genuine demands of the bus operators as has been done in the past, but was steadfast in the stand that the strike should be called off.
