Act Against Terror: Krishna Tells Pakistan

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said in the Rajya Sabha that the biggest “confidence building measure” that Islamabad can take was to prevent any future terrorist attack on India. He also asked Pakistan to take “credible and firm action” against terrorist groups, including the Jaamat-ud-Dawa (JuD), and its leaders like Hafiz Saeed.

But “unfortunately, Pakistan becomes subjective whenever we bring Saeed and others in discussion. We certainly would like Pakistan to be helpful and cooperative with India so that we can live in peace with each other,” he told the Rajya Sabha. “Terror is our core concern whenever we have talks with our counterparts in Pakistan,” he said.

According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Munaf will join as an “additional member” of squad for the tri-series. Munaf’s addition to the 15-member squad that boasts of four medium-pacers indicates that not all is well with Ishant Sharma and Abhimanyu Mithun, both of whom were overworked during the three-Test series against the hosts.

Cars Replace Feet in Delhi for Queen’s Baton

When the Queen’s Baton arrives in Delhi the relay will take place in cars rather than on foot as is the norm.

To avoid undue traffic congestion on a weekday the baton arrives in the city from Haryana on September 30, which is Thursday the baton will be driven straight to the OC headquarters in Connaught Place. There will be a VIP contingent comprising political leaders and officials of the OC and IOA waiting to “welcome it”. This will be followed by a cultural programme.
