Centre beefs up security ahead of Independence Day
With celebrations for the Independence day just around the corner , Delhi Police has stepped up security and vigil in the national capital to thwart any threat.
Additional police force has been deployed in the market places and malls around the city with special units in place at railway stations and other places that witness high footfall.
Senior police officers are also reviewing anti terror measures at busy market places and keeping watch on the security arrangements.
On Saturday , the traffic police also issued an advisory related to the traffic arrangements that will be put in place for the I day celebrations and the dress rehersal on August 13.
In view of security , entry of heavy commercial vehicles will also be banned in the city on August 15.
Places around Red Fort and old Delhi have been kept under strict vigil besides other important areas like India Gate and Lutyens Delhi with regular picket conducting surprise checks at important points.
Additional forces and units of paramilitary have been deployed in view of the I day celebrations.
