Chief Minister Digambar Kamat assured the Goa Legislative Assembly that “genuine” errors in the Regional Plan 2021 will be rectified. The assurance came when discussion on the Regional Plan was initiated in the House on Tuesday.
It may be recalled that following the notification of the Regional Plan 2021 for two talukas of Pernem and Canacona, there have been strong protests accusing the Town and Country Planning Department of rejecting the suggestions and recommendations given by the villages and implementing their own agenda.
One of the major contentious issue has been the demarcation of eco-tourism zones, a concept which was not heard of before as it was not mentioned in the now scrapped Regional Plan 2011 nor in the Draft Regional Plan that was circulated to the villages.
Besides, this, the department has also introduced a new concept of disaster management zone and micro industrial zone for each village wherever possible or for a cluster of villages wherever possible. There has not been much objections to these two concepts.
The Chief Minister while assuring the House that errors will be rectified also announced that the plan for the entire State would be notified by June 2011.
