CM Turns To High Command For Help Over MoI
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has reportedly asked help from the party high command to resolve the tangle over the medium of instruction at primary school level.
Forum for Rights of Children’s Education (FORCE) that is demanding that government provide grants to English medium schools too, on Thursday gave a deadline till 7th May for the government to accept their demand.
Senior Congress leaders including ministers from Salcete taluka in particular, are coming under tremendous pressure from the parents asking them to act decisively in getting their demand met. Many Congress stalwarts led by PWD Minister Churchill Alemao have expressed their support to FORCE’s demand.
In fact, it is learnt that the Congress MLAs supporting FORCE’s demand are scheduled to meet on 2nd May as some of them including Churchill are presently out of station.
Digambar Kamat while conceding that it is not easy to change a policy decision that has been in place for 20 years, did admit that a subject specific relief offered to FORCE has been rejected.
He has now asked the Congress high command to depute an emissary to Goa to resolve this issue.
