In a surprising political move, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Girish Chodankar has demanded a public apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “insulting and humiliating” Goa chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar during his visit to Goa by ignoring him completely “in a very arrogant manner”.
Chodankar was referring to a video clip of Modi’s recent public meeting in Goa which attempts to show Parsekar in poor light, and which has since gone viral on social media.
“This arrogant gesture of the Prime Minister has exhibited his feudal mentality to belittle Goa and has angered Goans,” Chodankar said.
“Parsekar, as a person, may be accustomed to such humiliating treatment in the BJP, but he should also understand that the insult meted out to the democratically elected chief minister of Goa is unpardonable. This has affected Goa’ s pride very badly. We strongly condemn the rude and unwarranted behaviour of Modi,” he added.
