Dabolim Airport Functioning Without Licence?
The Dabolim airport in Goa is apparently functioning without a valid licence according to a report in the local media which quoted a national news channel.
According to the report, seven of the country’s 12 major international airports are functioning without the required licence. Besides Goa, which is a major international hub, the other international airports functioning without license in India include Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
Apparently the Directorate General of Civil Aviation started the process of scrutinizing the applications for aerodrome licences in 2004 but abandoned the same after some time due to lack of manpower.
