Girish Chodankar likely to be Goa Pradesh Congress Chief
All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and a member of Rahul Gandhi’s inner circle team of young politicians – Girish Chodankar, is likely to be finalised at the new President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC).
Highly placed sources in the AICC told GoaChronicle.com that the two names short-listed for the post among the young leaders in Goa are Girish Chodankar and Alexio Reginald Lourenco. The GPCC post will go to Girish Chodankar and South Goa Lok Sabha ticket will go to Alexio Reginald Lourenco who valiantly fought the BJP candidate Narendra Sawaikar in Lok Sabha 2014.
Former GPCC President Shantaram Naik resigned from the position of the Goa Congress Chief a few days ago after being inspired by Congress President’s speech at the 84th Congress Plenary to make way and encourage young Congress leaders to lead the state-level units in the run-up to the Lok Sabha 2019.
Girish Chodankar had contested the Panjim by-poll against the BJP former Union Defence Minister and current Chief Minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar.
