Goa plans to implement 7th Pay Commission before Election Code
The state government plans to get the 7th Pay Commission recommendations implemented before the code of conduct for the assembly election 2017 comes into force. Goa is likely to go to polls in February 2017.
Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that as stated earlier this month the government is committed towards implementing the new pay scales for its employees.
A few months ago, Parsekar had declared that implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations would start from November 1, but couldn’t keep the date.The government is expected to entail an additional monthly liability of 72 crore, including 69 crore towards salary component and 13 crore for pension fund, on implementing the same.
Parsekar said that necessary directions have been issued to officials.
The file will be placed before the cabinet later this month, the CM said, adding that procedures will be completed before the election code of conduct comes into force.He also refused to pay the November salary by cash as demanded by GGEA.
