Goa Pre-Election Survey 2017: BJP will lead but no clear mandate
GoaChronicle.com – ProtectCore ‘Goa Pre-Election Survey 2017’ analysis based on a research conducted across 40 constituencies in Goa over the last two months.
The research clearly indicates that the mood of the people is one of no clear majority to any political party.
BJP will get a majority in 17 constituencies. Of the 20 constituencies in the North, BJP will regain 10 constituencies. In the South, however BJP will be able to regain only 7 constituencies. Interestingly, four ministers of the BJP in the current Goa Cabinet will not get a majority in their constituencies.
Congress will get a majority in 11 constituencies. But a sitting Congress MLA from the South Goa will not get a majority in his constituency.
AAP contesting its first Assembly Election in Goa with a former bureaucrat Elvis Gomes as its Chief Ministerial candidate will get a majority in 4 constituencies. It will upset BJP and Congress in those four constituencies.
Goa Forward Party – a newly formed regional party will also fair well with a majority in 2 constituencies.
The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) will not gain from its disassociation from its alliance partner BJP even though it plans to align with the rebel RSS outfit led by Subash Velingkar. It will get a majority in only 2 constituencies.
Goa Su-Raj Party under the leadership of the sitting MLA of Nuvem – Francisco (Mickky Pacheco) will get a majority in 1 constituency.
Rohan Khaunte as an Independent will retain his Porvorim constituency and if Atanasio (Babush) Monseratte contests as an Independent or through his soon to be formed political party from St. Cruz, he will retain the constituency but if he contests in Panjim, he will lose.
