GPL T20 To Begin On 23rd December
This season, two new teams will join the Goa Premier League T-20 tournament scheduled to commence from 23rd December disclosed Goa Cricket Association President Dayanand Narvekar.
The tournament organized by GCA will be held in the indoor cricket Academy’s ground at Porvorim and is scheduled to end on 8th January.
Narvekar further informed that each franchise of these eight teams will be giving 5 lakh to GCA as registration fee per year to make the league a profitable event.
He revealed that the GCA has installed high tech cameras worth 25 lakh to enable the action replay just like the BCCI provides. Two matches a day will be played at Porvorim. This year, four outstation players can be included in playing 11, with the total number of such players being seven in each team.
The auction for the players is likely to be held within a week’s time with a minimum of 80 players available. The bidding process will be valid for three years and the registration fee for each franchise will be 5 lakh per year. The franchises can buy players worth minimum 10 lakh and a maximum of 15 lakh.
With plans of telecasting the matches live, GCA has already been approached by Twilight Amusement Pvt. Ltd of Kolkata who have promised 10 lakh to GCA. Narvekar said the company has the expertise of telecasting in Kolkata and they are ready to do it likewise in Goa.
