In a major move of solidarity shown to Hindus across South Asia, the Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah has advocated that Hindus coming to India from neighbouring countries would be given Indian citizenship while the intruders who have illegally stayed back should be thrown out of country.
While addressing the concluding session of the State BJP Working Committee meeting here on Sunday, Shah said that Hindus may be Sikh, Parsis, Jain, Buddhist or any other sect living in neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan should be given Indian citizenship because they are integral part of Bharat.
He even disclosed that the Centre would would bring a Bill on giving citizenship to Hindu refugees very soon.
In his almost 45 minute speech Shah said that Hindus from these countries should be first given refugee status and then will be given nationality of India.
In the same breath he said that intruders would be thrown out of the country. “Every citizen of the country has a right to know who is an India citizen and who is intruder. The Government of India has identified over 40 lakh such people in Assam and they would be thrown out of the country. A similar attempt is made to give safe heaven to intruders in West Bengal. I had given a stern warning to Mamata Banerjee in my public rally in Kolkata on Saturday. She should stay away from patronizing intruders because their number help her to swell her vote bank,” Shah said.
Giving a pep talk to party workers he said there are talks about `maha gathbandhan’ in Uttar Pradesh and this should not worry the BJP. We have a strong army of 1.80 crore workers. It is not difficult to manage booth with this dedicated team. If our leaders and workers can make their presence felt in the booth the battle is won. Our target should be to get 51 per cent vote share. This will automatically translate into 73+ seats in Uttar Pradesh which is our target and once we achieve this there will be no impact of SP-BSP alliance, he said adding that previously too the SP and BSP had joined hands still the BJP had got more seats than these parties.
“Moreover, why to worry and what for. We have leaders like Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath under whose leadership both national and UP Governments have implemented policies for the welfare of masses. The schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala and Saubhagya schemes have benefitted poor and dalits. Go down to the village level and educate them about these policies,” Shah said.
The BJP national chief lauded Yogi saying in such a short span the UP government has improved law and order particularly in western Uttar Pradesh from where now exodus has stopped. Industries are coming back to UP as government is providing best possible infrastructure as well as security.
He said that creation of Backward Commission is a big plus for the party. Narendra Modi has now emerged as a hero. Congress always talks about dalits and backwards but actually they have done for the deprived section in their almost 55 years rule. “The parties like SP, BSP and Congress are no match to BJP because our agenda is development while theirs is promoting caste and personal interest,” Shah said.
