Panjim, Sept 25 (GCNews) Independent MLA Prasad Gaonkar representing Sanguem constituency in the Goa Legislative Assembly, on Tuesday resigned as Chairman of Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC) alleging lack of support to the corporation from the government.
In conversation with GoaChronicle.com after tendering his resignation, he said what kind of development could be expected when the State Forest Minister himself was not available for a long time.
“When State Forest Minister himself is absent for long time, what kind of development can we expect in that department?,” the MLA asked and expressed unhappiness with the functioning of Manohar Parrikar-led government.
“I had supported Manohar Parrikar as the Chief Minister because I was impressed with his style of functioning. But now I find that the current government has done injustice to my people,” he said.
When asked would he withdraw support to the government, Gaonkar said he would take any decision after consulting his voters.
