KTC Union Objects To Privatisation
The KTC Drivers and Allied Employees Association while condemning the decision to privatise inter-state routes said a memorandum to this effect will be submitted to the management shortly.
It may be recalled that the Kadamba Transport Corporation that is facing heavy losses, had decided to withdraw from many of the inter-state buses and invite private bus operators to ply the KTC buses on those routes.
Christopher Fonseca, General Secretary of AITUC to which the KTC union is affiliated while describing the decision as “foolish taken in haste” cautioned that this may be beginning of the privatization of the corporation.
He said this was a deliberate ploy to enable other operators including transport corporations of other States to exploit the routes currently operated by the KTC.
