Man from Bengal caught in possession of Ganga in Calangute
Calangute Police in North Goa on Friday booked 32-year-old man from West Bengal for allegedly possessing ganja worth Rs 30,000 following a raid conducted on Thursday night.
Calangute Police Station In-charge Police Inspector Jiva Dalvi told media while on patrolling, information was received about the accused person coming to deliver ganja to a prospective customer.
A team was formed and police laid a trap behind fish market, Calangute, Bardez- Goa and waited for the suspected person. Upon noticing the accused person, police immediately apprehended him.
The personal search was conducted and ganja worth Rs 30,000 was seized from the accused person. The accused was identified as Kaosar (32), son of Ranjan Ali Molla, native of Shahjahanpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal.
Dalvi said an offence under sections 20(b)(ii)(A) of NDPS Act was registered. The raid went on from 2100 hrs to midnight. The raiding team consisted of Dalvi, PSI Mahesh Naik, police constables Dinesh Morajkar, Govind Shirodkar and Vallabh Pednekar and other staff.
Further investigation was in progress, he added.
