Mhadei verdict a big setback for Goa: Congress
The Congress in Goa on Tuesday said that the Mhaedi verdict was a big setback for the state and Goenkars.
While reacting to the verdict, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar said the Mhadei verdict was a big setback for the Goa and Goenkars.
“The Mhadei river known as lifeline for the Goenkars has been parted away by the order of the Hon’ble Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal as it has allocated to Karnataka allocated 5.5 TMC, including 1.5 TMC for use within Mhadei basin and 4 TMC for diversion to Malaprabha reservoir, permits K’taka to produce power at Mhadei Hydro Electric project with 8.02 TMC. This is no way victory of Goa as claimed by the Government,” he said.
“In long run it is going to be big negative impact on Goa. It looks like our legal team was struggling to make reality about the letter issued by Goa CM to Karnataka BJP Chief B S Yedurappa and the ‘secret meeting’ called by BJP National President Amit Shah with Goa CM and others,” he said and demanded that BJP Government at least should disclose now what was transcribed in that meeting.
He said Goa government had to be more vigilant on the issue as crores of rupees spent on protecting the ‘so called Mhadei’ had been exposed.
“As we await the a detailed study of the formal order to reveal more details, the Congress party says that this is a big let down and bogged failure of the Government to Protect Mhadei river who now wants to fool Goan’s by projected victory,” he said.
