Micky Files FIR Against Churchill’s Corrupt Practices
Nationalist Congress Party legislator Micky Pacheco filed a complaint with the Crime Branch against Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Churchill Alemao Prevention of under Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code accusing him of violating Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) norms and also guidelines of CPWD to manipulate various tenders.
Pacheco said that Alemao has caused loss worth crores of rupees to the state exchequer by manipulating the tender guidelines since his appointment as the minister.
He also accused Alemao of rigging PWD bids by introducing an illegal circular, introduced in 2007, that gives all the financial powers to the PWD minister.
The complaint copy has attached all the notes put up secretaries on the controversial circular, which gives PWD minister financial and administrative powers, which are against the conventional practice.
The complaint also mentioned that Alemao had introduced the controversial circular, against the advice of the vigilance secretary and the chief secretary which allowed his office the power to virtually handpick contractors for PWD commissioned works.
