NCP Demands CBI Inquiry Into Violations Of FEMA in Goa
Pointing out various cases on FEMA violations, Ghate demanded CBI inquiry. Ghate was the first person to agitate against foreigners buying land in Goa in violation of FEMA.
Ghate informed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has confiscated 13 properties with a penalty of Rs. 77,40,000. He also informed that RTI has revealed that 482 foreigners have purchased land to the extent of 12.61 lakh square metres in Goa.
Ghate informed that NCP will also submit a memorandum to Revenue Minister Jose Philip D’Souza, asking him to conduct a state level inquiry into FEMA violations. He further stated that the inquiry should be conducted by independent agency like CBI to check if Government officials have been involved in land deals on account of financial gains.
