Nitish Kumar for Talks With Maoists
Following reports that the Maoists had killed one of the four police personnel they were holding hostage, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar agreed to talks with the separatists to secure the release of the other three policemen.
Maoists holding the police personnel hostage had demanded the release of eight of their comrades languishing in jail and also withdrawal of police presence in the areas under their control.
As the government did not come to the negotiating table with them, on Thursday they reportedly killed Sub Inspector Abhay Yadav and have threatened to kill the other three if their demands are not met by 10 am on 3rd September.
“We need to think with seriousness on this issue. I do not know what mistakes the cops had made. By taking people hostage, I do not know what example the Naxals are trying to set,” said NItish on getting the news of the killing of Abhay Yadav.
