No alliance in Goa, Gandhi informs Faleiro
All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi has made it evidently clear to the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Luizinho Faleiro that the party need not go into the Goa Assembly Election 2017 with an alliance but instead contest all forty seats as Congress only.
Sources at AICC Delhi told GoaChronicle.com that both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have developed a firm opinion that if Congress were to contest the election on their own, they would stand a better chance of upsetting the ruling BJP rather than rely on other political parties who eat into the Congress vote-banks through an alliance. Instead it is imperative that Congress build on its vote-bank.
Furthermore it has been indicated to the Congress high-command by observers in Goa who have been stationed in Goa over the last month analyzing the political situation for the Congress, any alliance for the Congress due to fear of split of votes is just a ploy from political aspirants who want to ride on the Congress back.
GoaChronicle.com has also learned that the Congress President is not keen to forge any alliance with either NCP, Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate (UGP) or Vijai Sardesai (GFP).
