No Congress ticket for Valanka Alemao

Valanka Alemao will have to wait to contest under the Congress banner revealed highly placed sources at the Congress high command. Though, the Congress party will extend all its support to her during the election if she plans to contest as an Independent candidate. To even go a step further, the party might not even field a Congress candidate in the Benaulim constituency, if Valanka favors a pre-election alliance with Congress.

This new development will certainly come as a shock not only to Valanka Alemao but PWD minister Churchill Alemao also as he has been over the last couple of months strongly advocating the advent of his daughter into the political arena and was confident that he would be able to convince or intimidate the Congress high command into alloting a Congress ticket in the 2012 Goa Assembly elections to Valanka, his daughter.

Sources say that traditionally and as per Congress party protocol, giving any family more than two tickets to contest Assembly elections has not been done so far and the party is not keen to alter their normal practice. And they are confident that Churchill and Valanka Alemao will understand their stance in interest of the party policies.

With Valanka not getting a ticket, it is certain that the other Alemao making inroads into politics Yuri Alemao – the son of Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao will also have to wait in turn to get a Congress ticket or contest independently.
