No Shacks at Palolem Till 15th November
The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court on Monday directed the government not to allot any shacks at Palolem beach till 15th November and further directed the government to inspect the beach and submit a report before the next hearing which is also slated for 15th November.
Hearing a petition filed by Vikas Bhagat, the court had earlier directed the government not to issue any licenses after observing that some of the shacks appear to be installed in water as per photographs filed by the petitioner.
The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority has been asked to inspect the beach even though its Member Secretary Michael D’Souza had filed an affidavit in the court implying that there exists no beach at Palolem.
Meanwhile, the Division bench also directed the Goa Shack Owners Association to file a fresh petition and disallowed their pleadings pertaining to shacks on private beaches that they had made in their application to be added as parties to the present petition
