Opposition will unite against Modi: Rahul Gandhi
Charging Prime Minister Narendra Modi of indulging in corruption, including
indulging in horse trading of MLAs in Karnataka, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said his party together with other opposition parties would defeat the BJP.
Addressing a press conference, shortly after the BJP Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa announced his resignation , before the keenly awaited trial of strength in the state assembly, Rahul Gandhi charged the BJP and the RSS of destroying all institutions in the country, as exemplified in its misuse of the office of Governor.
The Congress president said the latest political development in Karnataka shows that the money and the power is not everything, but “the will of the people is”.
Charging the PM of indulging in corruption, including indulging in the horse trading of MLAs in Karnataka, the Congress president said,’we have seen how the PM has directly authorised the purchasing of MLAs in karnataka from our party and from the JD-S.
So the idea that the PM spreads around that he is fighting corruption around the country is a blatant lie. He is corruption. He is doing everything to subvert this Nation. There are phone conversations of MLAs being attempted to be purchased by the BJP.’
He said that the message that the resignation of Yeddyurappa put across was that the money and the power is not everything, but “the will of the people is”.
“They chose to disrespect the mandate of the people in Goa and Manipur. They chose to disrespect the mandate of the people in Karnataka. Today, I am am proud to say that they have been shown that in India power is not everything, in India money is not everything, in India corruption is not everything, in India the will of the people is everything,”Rahul said.
He thanked the people of Karnataka, the leaders and workers of the Congress and the JD S , led by Deve Gowda, for defending the Constitution and Democracy.
‘They have explained to the people, they have explained to the BJP and the RSS that there are limits to their arrogance. I hope the BJP and the RSS learn a lesson from this that the institutions of this country cannot be disrespected,’Rahul said.
Gandhi blasted the BJP legislators in the state assembly including the outgoing Chief Minister Yeddyurappa and the Protem Speaker KG Bopaiah for disrespecting the national anthem at the end of the days’ session.
“Precisely this is what we are fighting. The BJP, the RSS and Prime Minister Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah do not have any respect for any institution in the country”, he said .
