Orissa Native Succumbs To Burn Injuries
Gariba Ishwar Andrap, the 23 year old native of Orissa who was admitted to Goa Medical College, succumbed to burn injuries thus turning out to be a tragic victim of a love gone sour for no fault of his.
Gariba who used to live with his wife at the 20 point housing colony at Verna had given shelter to a girl from his native village. The girl was being wooed by one Ratnakar Laxman Dubdali also from Orissa and whose earlier marriage had broken down.
However, after the girl reportedly refused to marry Ratnakar, the latter on 21st March set the room in which the girl was sleeping along with Gariba and his wife. As Gariba was sleeping closest to the window through which Ratnakar threw kerosene in the room, he suffered serious burn injuries while his wife and the girl escaped with minor ones.
Police had arrested Ratnakar the same day and he has already confessed to the crime. Besides police have already recorded Gariba’s dying declaration and the case of attempt to murder against Ratnakar will now be converted to a murder charge.
