Police on alert for Ganesh Chaturthi, Bakri Eid
Goa police has deployed additional police force in the state to avoid any untoward incident in view of the overlap of two festivals – Chaturthi and Eid-Ul-Zuha (Bakri Eid).
Speaking to mediapersons, Vimal Gupta, deputy inspector general of police (DIG) said police have taken special measures to ensure that no untoward incident take place. “We have mapped sensitive areas based on past records,” he added.
He said that separate deployments have been made at Ponda, Margao, Valpoi, Curchorem, Divar Island, Bicholim, etc.
The police force has been reinforced with all companies of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and robots would be patrolling these areas, he added.
Gupta said that kurbani should be performed only at the designated area, i.e. Goa Meat Complex.
