President appoints Justice Ranjan Gogoi as next CJI
New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday appointed Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the next Chief Justice of India.
‘The President of India has appointed Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the next Chief Justice of India. He will assume the office of Chief Justice on October 3, 2018 after the retirement of the current Chief Justice, Justice Dipak Misra,’ an official release by the Prime Minister’s office said.
Justice Gogoi will be the first judge from Assam and the North-East to hold the highest post.
