Rahul takes a dig at Modi says BJP must fast against crimes on women
Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the death of a person in police custody, whose daughter accused a UP MLA of raping her, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday ‘hoped’ that the PM would soon hold a fast against the atrocities being committed on women under the BJP rule at the Centre.
In a jibe at the fast being undertaken by the PM and other BJP MPs on Thursday to protest the disruption of Parliament by the Congress, Rahul, taking to twitter, said, ”the incident of barbarity in Uttar Pradesh against a person demanding justice for his daughter has shamed humanity.
“I hope that the PM will undertake a fast soon on the atrocities against women in BJP rule, the failure of the law and order machinery and the increasing lawlessness.”
On Monday, the Congress President had attacked both the Yogi Adityanath government, as well as the Modi government, on the issue.
In a tweet, Gandhi had said, “A woman levels charges of rape against a BJP MLA. However, instead of arresting the MLA, police takes the woman’s father in custody. Immediately after that, he dies in police custody.
On the other hand, the accused MLA is still roaming free. The BJP version of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ is ‘Beti Bachao Khud Maare Jao’.”
