Shripad Naik inaugurates Goa State Yoga Academy
Union Minister for AYUSH Shirpad Naik inaugurated Goa State Yoga Academy in the presence of State Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, Housing Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar and former Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncaliencar at Kala Academy in the city.
The academy is aimed at promoting yoga under one roof and all the directions and schemes pertaining to central government and state government related to yoga would be centralised through yoga in the entire state of Goa.
Speaking on the occasion, Naik said there was need to create awareness about yoga and its benefits.
Madkaikar, who is chairman of the academy, said the academy would have its own syllabus and code of conduct and called upon yoga teachers to provide their suggestions to the academy.
He said attempt of the government would be introduce yoga at primary school level itself and teachers would be trained for that.
The minister said that the academy would be open for every body irrespective of religion as yoga was not for those belonging to just one religion.
He announced that State Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude and Housing Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar would be patron of the academy.
While Mr Madkaikar is chairman of the academy, Dr Suraj Kanekar is Yoga Guru, Ramchandra Bharne Secretary, Milind Mahale Treasurer, Pradeep Nagvenkar Goa Yog Pramukh Goa State, Neelam Marathe Goa Mahila Pramukh Goa State and Suraj Naik is the coordinator.
