GoaChronicle.com tried to speak with Tourism Director, Spain Tourism Board in India, Arturo Ortiz however, we were told that he is out of the country but the media manager for Spain Tourism Board, Neelam Talera confirmed that the Spanish Tourism Board is not involved with this event being held in Goa in any form.
Sources in the tourism department, said that the organizers Magnum Opus Films and Chrysolite Media Pvt Ltd had approached the Goa Tourism Department on the basis of letter from the Spanish Consulate granting them permission to hold this popular festival in order to promote Spain culture and tourism. Strangely, though the Spain Tourism Board is not associated with this event.
When we spoke to the director of the company that formerly promoted Spain Tourism in India, TRAC Representations, he said, that traditionally the Spanish Consulate or Embassy would work together with the Spain Tourism Board in India on such an event, unless of course they have changed their style of functioning now.
Neelam Talera too added that as far as Spain Tourism Board is concerned we are not involved but if Spanish Consulate has given any such letter to the organizers we are not aware.
Both Spain Consulate and Embassy are closed in the afternoon, but GoaChronicle.com will speak to them tomorrow to get a hold on why a prestigious promotional event for Spain does not feature Spain Tourism Board.
