Stop throwing muck on Cecille; Grow Up!
On the onset let me make it absolutely clear that I do not support Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) but I certainly believe that some of the candidates selected by AAP for the Goa Assembly Election 2017 are genuinely good candidates when compared to the run of the mill political leaders Goa has seen so far. One of them is certainly Cecille Rodrigues from Taleigao.
I respect the fact that she is woman and has the courage to take-on a power centre in Tiswadi – Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate and BJP in Taleigao. This is no easy task and the mere fact that she has decided to contest the election is encouraging.
The face of Babush Monserrate in Taleigao is none other than his wife Jennifer Monserrate who is also an enterprising woman but has yet not come out from the shadow of her husband and leave a mark in the political arena on her own at least in her own constituency.
BJP in Taleigao is almost non-existent. You do hear some noise from the BJP leader in Taleigao sometimes but nothing extraordinary to talk about even though BJP is in government.
The tirade happening on Facebook on Cecille because of her attending an event on a casino some time back contradicting her stance and protest against casinos in Goa is absolute nonsense. Most of the criticism appears to be coming from the BJP supporters Facebook brigade.
And the hypocritical nature of the BJP supporters is so exposed in such a shameful act. It completely surprises me that they seem to forget that it was the former Chief Minister and now Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar who had protested vehemently to move the casinos out of Goa when in opposition but did only lip service when voted to power, as the casinos have not been moved out of the Mandovi River.
This is similar to Parrikar screaming hoarse in the Assembly when in Opposition that there is rampant illegal mining in Goa and then when elected to power and as the Chief Minister, he does a U-Turn in the Assembly saying , “There is no illegalities in mining but irregularities.”
I do not know Cecille Rodrigues personally, I have read about here and we at GoaChronicle.com had done an interview with her when she had won the Dance India Dance competition. That achievement in itself is a show of character, determination and courage to take a challenge and give it your best. People voted for her to win.
Cecille personally I wish there were more women like you, who came out and exercised their right to fight an election in an arena in Goa which has been mostly dominated by men. It is extremely encouraging to know that you have the fortitude to catch the bull by its horns and fight tough candidates in your constituency. As far as the criticism and the rubbish tirade on social media, you are doing the right thing by ignoring it.
To me it does not matter whether you win or not, what matters is that you stood for the Election and gave the people a choice of a good candidate.
The despicable acts of men in Bangalore physical is an indication of their degenerate psyche and the same act by some men on the social media against Cecille is an indication of their sick psyche.
All I can say to them is grow up, stop throwing muck of Cecille and look at the hypocrisy in your own backyard. Cecille might be a AAP candidate but more than that she is a woman and we should encourage more women like her in the Election fray.
