Agartala: The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) in a meeting has decided to hold a one-day monsoon session of Tripura assembly on September 21 following all precautions and guidelines of Covid-19, Parliamentary Minister Ratan Lal Nath said today.
There will be no question hour but the government will transact only legislative business. As many as 10 bills are scheduled to be tabled during the session. However, the opposition members of BAC opposed the decision of suspension of question hour and raising other public interest issues in the assembly.
The deputy leader of the opposition and senior CPI (M) leader Badal Choudhury stated that protesting against these decisions, CPI (M) MLAs – members of BAC had walked out from the meeting yesterday. In the BAC, CPI (M) have only two members against six members of ruling BJP and one from IPFT including Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
Choudhury said the situation turned worse as proposals were placed at BAC meeting to pass several bills without discussions, which is not only undemocratic but also set a precedent in the country. When central government had allowed discussions before passing Farm bills in the Parliament, how MLAs can allow the bills become laws without detailed discussion, he questioned.
