15 per cent polling till 10 A.M. in Bihar

Patna, May 6 (GCCurrentAffairs) At least 15 percent voters exercised their franchise till 10 A.M. in five constituencies going to the poll in the 5th phase of Lok Sabha election today.

Sources at the Election Office said that Saran constituency recorded highest 17 per cent voting followed by 16 per cent in Hajipur (reserved), 15 per cent in Sitamarhi, 14.10 per cent in Muzaffarpur and 13 percent in Madhubani constituency. Overall 15 per cent voters cast their votes in the first three hours of voting.

Sources said that reports of EVM snags were received from few booths in different constituencies but polling resumed after problems were sorted out. No major incident of violence had been reported so far.

Meanwhile, a miscreant damaged the ballot unit of EVM at booth number 131 under Sonpur assembly segment in Saran Lok Sabha constituency.

Confirming the incident, Saran district returning officer cum district magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen said that the offender identified as Suresh Sharma had been arrested. He said that polling resumed at the booth after some time.
