2-nation theory was perpetrated by Savarkar: Cong

New Delhi, Dec 11 (GCCurrentAffairs) Seeking to refute the charge by the BJP that the to National theory was mootd by the Congress, Congress leader Kapil Sibal on Wednesday said it was Savarkar and Jinnah who raised the two nation theory and not his party.
Participating in a debate in the Rajya Sabha on the Citizenship Amendment Bill, Mr Sibal said the two -nation theory was perpetrated by Savarkar.
Taking a dig at Home Minister Amit Shah on his statement that Muslims near not fear from the Bill, Mr Sibal said,”no one is afraid of you or your party. No Muslim is scared of you. We all are citizens of India and have fear of constitution.”
“The Home Minister said this bill is above politics. We tell you Home Minister, first you rise above politics,”he said.
Mr Sibal asked how do you distinguish between one illegal immigrant and another illegal immigrant.
“Don’t convert the Indian republic into a jurassic republic with two dinosaurs,” said Mr Sibal.
Charging the Government of trying to target one particular community, he said,”you want to decide by ‘name’ if he or she should stay in India.”
In this context, Mr Sibal quoted LK Advani as having said that “Anyone fleeing religious persecution is a refugee, and cannot be equated with an illegal immigrant..”
“Someone can be an Indian citizen if one parent is a citizen, and the other is not an illegal migrant,” said Mr Sibal quoting from Citizenship Act.
“If this Bill gets passed, it will give colour to 2-nation theory,” he said..
