23,500 shots of COVID-19 vaccine arrive in Goa

Panjim: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that 23,500 shots of Covid 19 vaccine had arrived in the state.

In a tweet, he said the vaccines would be stored appropriately by the authorities and would be distributed to all centres prior to vaccination day.

‘Goa has received 2350 vials with 10 doses each, totaling 23500 shots of #COVID19 vaccine, today morning. The vaccines are being stored appropriately by the authorities, and would be distributed to all centres 24 hours prior to vaccination day,’ the Chief Minister tweeted.

The first lot of the vaccine reached at Goa Airport at 0622 hours in the morning.

In a tweet, Goa Airport said the two boxes received were expeditiously cleared and handed over to Health Service officials

‘The first lot of COVID 19 vaccine for Goa has reached today early morning at 0622 hrs. The Two boxes received were expeditiously cleared by TEAM GOA and handed over to Health Service officials,’ the Airport tweeted.

The state has geared up for the vaccination drive which is set to begin from January 16, 2021. Approximately 18,000 health workers in the state are to be covered during the initial phase of the programme, a health official said.

On Tuesday, Goa reported 92 more cases of Covid 19 which took the tally to 51,983. As per Directorate of Health Services, the state has so far reported 749 deaths due to the disease.
