27 killed in road accidents in Goa in January 2019: DoT

Panaji, Feb 27 (GCCurrentAffairs) As many as 27 people had lost their lives in the month of January this year, according to information provided by Directorate of Transport (DoT) in the state on Tuesday.

As per the monthly report of number of accidents that occurred and number of Challans issued for the month of January 2019, compiled by Directorate of Transport, out of 27 people, 14 were from North Goa while 13 from South Goa.

‘As per the report there were 327 road accidents of which 26 Fatal Accidents (North Goa – 13 and South Goa – 13), 17 Grievous Accidents (North Goa – 8 and South Goa – 9), 82 Minor Accidents (North Goa – 18 and South Goa – 64) and 202 Non – Injury Accidents (North Goa – 107 and South Goa – 95) took place. The total number of people who lost their lives in road accidents were 27 (North Goa – 14 and South Goa – 13). 16 riders, 6 Pillion/Riders and 3 Pedestrian lost their lives in these accidents. 25 people were Grievously Injured (North – 12 and South – 13) while 122 persons suffered Minor Injuries (North – 29, South – 93),’ the report said.

A total of 8,282 Challans were issued by Transport authorities in the month of January 2019, the report added.
