With the Goa Science Centre embarking upon construction of a 3-D planetarium at the cost of around Rs 76 lakhs within its premises at Miramar, star grazers will have something new to experience.
The planetarium with a seating capacity of 50 is expected to be ready within the next eight months and will conduct regular sky shows for people.
The project is funded by State and Central government on 50:50 basis and is aimed at being an additional infrastructure for tourists visiting the state.
The Goa Science Centre has around one lakh visitors in a year with most of them being school students.
Incidentally, the Government of Goa, around 10 years back, had proposed to construct an oceanarium at Miramar which never really took off even though bids were invited to construct it on PPP module
