Panjim: As many as 63 US nationals who were stranded in Goa due to ongoing 21-day lock down in the country were taken by three buses to Mumbai on Saturday, enroute US.
According to sources, the tourists gathered at bus stand at Mapusa, a town around 16 km away from the capital city, and were boarded into air-conditioned buses.
The whole operation was conducted by state officials and officials of US Consul.
The tourists are expected to take a flight for the US on Sunday from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
On Friday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said around 800 foreign tourists of various countries were stranded in the state and they would be sent to their respective countries by the weekend.
During the last few days, over 2000 international tourists have been evacuated from the coastal state.
