Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released the 8th instalment of financial benefits under Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN). The announcement of the same was made during a virtual meet on Friday.

Rs 19,000 crores are allotted to over 9.5 crore beneficiaries under the 8th instalment. The Prime Minister even interacted with the beneficiaries. On the day the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar also made his presence. Never in the past has it happened that the farmers of West Bengal took a part in the scheme and will be benefitted with the same as until now the Mamata Banerjee govt didn’t allow its state farmers to take part in the PM-KISAN yojana.

The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of the farmers nationwide for making record produce in food grains and horticulture amid the difficulties being faced by the nation. He added that the government is also setting new records in procurement at MSP every year. Firstly, paddy and now wheat procurement is reaching new bars. He added “so far this year about 10% more wheat has been procured at MSP, compared to last year. So far, about Rs, 58,000 crores for wheat procurement have reached the farmers’ account directly.”

By promoting organic farming, he commented the govt making efforts to come up with ‘new ideas’ and ‘new options’ in farming. Organic farming delivers more profit and is now being practiced across the nation by young farmers. He asserted “Organic farming is being practiced on both banks of river Ganga and within a radius of about 5 kilometres so that the Ganga remains clean.”

PM Modi underlined the extension of Kisan Credit Card’s deadline during times of pandemic and the instalments can now be renewed by June 30. He said more than 2 crore Kisan Credit cards have been issued in recent years.

On the current scenario, PM spoke as the world is dealing with the pandemic which has happened after 100 years in the history of mankind. The intangible foe in front of us has taken many lives. He added, “The government is fighting COVID-19 with all its might and ensuring that every govt department is working day & night to ease the pain of the nation.”

Speaking on the data about the vaccination drive, PM lauded the continuous efforts of the central and the state governments making all possible ways to inoculate maximum citizenry at a rapid pace. He urged people to register themselves and get inoculated when their turn comes and to follow all the Covid appropriate behaviour all the time.
