The Mumbai Police has named Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-chief of Republic TV as an accused in the Television Rating Points Scam(TRP), nine months after registering an FIR in the case.
The supplementary chargesheet was filed before the Court of the Metropolitan Magistrate at Esplanade, Mumbai on Tuesday.
The supplementary chargesheet is reportedly over 1800 pages and has enlisted 7 more persons as accused.
The Mumbai Police, in its first chargesheet had stated that there were 22 accused in the case. However so far, chargesheets had only been filed against 15 accused.
The following seven persons have been made accused in the supplementary chargesheet:
- Arnab Ranjan Goswami, Editor in Chief, Republic TV.
- Amit Mohan Dave
- Sanjay Sukhdev Varma
- Priya Mukherjee, Chief Operating Officer, Republic TV
- Siva Subramaniam, Chief Financial Officer, Republic TV
- Shivendra Mundherkar, Employee, Republic TV
- Ranjit Walter, Employee, Republic TV
The chargesheet was filed for the commission of offences under Sections 406, 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) 465, 468 (forgery), 201, 204 (disappearance or destruction of evidence), 212 (harbouring offender) and 120B (conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code.
