India and Pakistan have a long rivalry. It didn’t start when the Pakistan was carved out of India. The rivalry started when few fanatics demanded separate land in the name of Islam to be carved out of India. Islam is a cult group which demands for a separate nation as soon as they get a chance to demand their rights. That happened with pre-independent India also known as “Akhand Bharat” when Muslims demanded separate land from Britishers who were ruling us at that point of time.
Indian nationalist had to bow down at the demand of Muslim League headed by Md Ali Jinnah and Syed Ahmad Khan who didn’t want anything but a separate nation. Muslims mainly from present day Bihar, Bengal, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh wanted a separate nation in the name of Islam. After accepting this demand, normal course should have been complete interchange of the population of Muslims and Hindus between India and Pakistan. However, secular leadership didn’t let that happen and kept back the Muslim population while asking Hindus to stay back in Pakistan. India which has always been secular has allowed the Muslims to stay safely despite of partition in the name of humanity. This resulted in rise of Muslim population in India like anything and they currently are over 20% of whole population of the nation and is third highest in the world. On the other hand, Hindus in Pakistan has been reduced to mere 2% of the population and they’re often subject to harassment, forceful conversion, and killings.
India after decades of atrocities in Pakistan and Bangladesh (also Afghanistan), finally took a step through Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to fasten the process of citizenship of the minorities of these nations including Hindus and Sikhs which was then fiercely opposed by few segments of Indian population. While opposing the act, they demanded an equal treatment for Muslims of Pakistan too while completely forgetting the fact that India got partitioned because Muslims of Pakistan wanted a separate nation. During partition, Aligarh Muslim University played a major role in creating more rift and have allowed anti-Hindu sentiments to grow. However, no where it has been put on history books resulting in people forgetting about the independence we got through blood.
Today after 70 years when one would look back and compare, there won’t be much difference between then and now. Aligarh Muslim University is still working without much change. It doesn’t even allow reservation for SC-ST in its campus which isn’t against the constitution only but also violates the orders of Supreme Court and Allahabad High Court.
On the other hand, areas with significant Muslim population including Kashmir, Kerala, Bengal, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh often shows anti-Hindu and anti-Indian sentiments every now and then. Though many Muslims of India doesn’t support such a narrative, but them being mute spectator and not opposing this breaking India forces leads to further encouragement among the groups. It is high time that a new Pakistan must be stopped to take birth in India as speculated by B.R. Ambedkar when he said that,
“Islam can never allow a true Muslim to adopt India as his motherland and regard a Hindu as his kith and kin.”
