In a letter dated November 17, 2012 the Employees’ Union has stated, “circumstances have so been created in the last few years that the expansion plan will not be fully realised and completed as the airport has been denied land for creating facilities like adequate car and bus parking, cargo warehouse and fuel farms. These facilities are very vital at all the International airports and the true potential and scope of an airport cannot be realised till it has all allied aviation facilities.”
The letter further states that though much is written, nothing concrete has been done for this sole International airport which is one of its kind between Mumbai and Cochin. It would require to that the Dabolim Airport provides employment to thousands of people and indirectly benefits the entire state of Goa. But in spite of this the airport has not got it due share of attention and much required land just outside the airport has been denied for the expansion project.
The Employees’ Union further appeals to the MP to restore the already identified land for parking to the Dabolim Airport. And extols the MP’s work in assisting the airport getting the Rs 500 crore for its expansion.
