“This statement tantamounts to an admission by the CM that he believes that it is not possible to govern without indulging in corruption. In such a situation, the AAP (Goa) demands that the CM apologize to the people of Goa for misleading them during the election campaign of 2012 and promising to reduce corruption”, AAP said in a statement issued here Wednesday evening.
“His actions, or rather inaction, on critical measures such as Lokayukta, Right to Services, and RTI, that would help alleviate the burden of corruption on the common man, are also a cause for grave concern”, it further said.
India against Corruption (IAC) and some other organisations had demanded that Goa Lokayukta bill should be on the lines of Uttarakhand as promised by the BJP in the run-up to the last assembly polls. Currently, the post of Lokayukta is lying vacant as the former judge of the supreme court B Sudershan Reddy resigned more than a month ago. Right to services act is also not being implemented.
The AAP (Goa) has organised a public meeting on Thursday December 19 at 5.00 pm at Azad Maidan, Panaji, to express their views on critical issues concerning Goa, on the occasion of Liberation Day. AAP has decided to contest both the Lok Sabha seats.
