In a statement, AAP leader Valmiki Naik, who filed the complaint, said was a criminal act meant to incite hatred and communal passions and promote enmity between communities and to disturb peaceful fabric of Goa.
Naik said the police could easily track the source through its cyber cell and prosecute the offenders so that a strong message was sent that communalism and incitement of hatred had no place in a society like that of Goa.
He said even during the Portuguese regime Goans had always lived in peace and mutual harmony and called upon everyone to condemn attempts by the fringe elements who were bent on creating disturbances thinking they could get electoral gain.
A police spokesperson confirmed that a complaint was and initial inquiries had been initiative.
The complaint was filed in the wake of series of videos slamming Roman Catholic Church in the state being circulated in social media.
The video appears to accuse the Church of backing the protests which were hitting the interests of Goa and being involved in ill-doings and selling out land in the state.
