Panjim: Congress MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate who won the recent Panjim by-poll and setting a foothold in the Late Manohar Parrikar’s constituency now has to deal with a ghost from a recent past.
The North Goa District and Sessions Court has rejected the plea of the Congress MLA that the court drop the charges off rape of a minor and discharge him from the case.
According to the Public Prosecutor Roy D’Souza, “The judge has ordered for charges to be framed on all those sections and charge is going to be framed by June 12.”
The newly elected MLA of Panjim will now have to undergo a trail under (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO)
Monserrate continues to deny all accusations levelled on him and refused to comment further on the matter as it is now sub-judice.
Monserrate is accused of buying of minor girl for Rs 50 lakhs, drugging her and then sexually abusing her.
