Pointing out that all public functionaries have to file a statement of their assets and liabilities before the Goa Lokayukta by July 31st, Adv. Rodrigues has stated that Advocate General, being the Leader of the Bar, should set the precedent, by being the first to reveal his assets and make the declaration before the Lokayukta.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that the government needs to explain as to why Goa’s Advocate General Atmaram Nadkarni, who is India’s highest paid public official is sought to be intentionally and conveniently kept free from the scanner of the Goa Lokayukta.
Accusing Atmaram Nadkarni of continuing to represent the Mining companies despite being the Advocate General, Adv. Rodrigues has stated that the huge assets acquired by the Advocate General, especially in the last 15 months needs to come under public scrutiny.
Adv. Rodrigues has today also accused Advocate General Atmaram Nadkarni of pressuring Under Secretary Law Vasanti Parvatkar not to disclose information sought about the Advocate General under the Right to Information Act.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that he has now filed an appeal under the RTI Act against Vasanti Parvatkar before the Joint Secretary Law Sharad Marathe which has been fixed for arguments on 8th July.
