The Betul, Naqueri & Canaguinim Citizens Action Committee has threatened to intensify its agitation if the work on the proposed food park at Quitol is not stopped forthwith.
In a memorandum addressed to Goa Industrial Development Corporation Chairman, the committee pointed out that work was going on the project in full swing despite opposition from the locals and demanded that the work be stopped immediately.
The committee pointed out that no permission has been taken from the concerned panchayat for the work being carried out at present and demanded to know how the work could be started without even the knowledge of the panchayat.
Besides pointing out that the Gram Sabhas have resolved against the project, the Committee also pointed out that objection to the project were proposed in the Regional Plan 2021 when it was discussed at the village level.
The committee has threatened to intensify their agitation hinting that the so far peaceful resistance my take a different mode.
